When Dan & I spoke about taking this event on, I said from the start that I wanted it to be female inclusive. I wanted to make sure that the female trail running community felt they could join us and be comfortable in the event and not question if it is something they can do. So, this is my promise to the community.
Both Dan and I are the race directors, if you don’t feel comfortable voicing your concern to a male, there is also a female race director to speak to.
We added in the 50 km event, not because females cannot run 50 or 100 miles, but if you are new to ultra world, you want the opportunity to build on your mileage and realise just how much you enjoy trail running this is the perfect distance.
We then looked at the cut offs and decided 3.5 mile an hour for the 100 mile race was a good fast walk, that would still challenge you to keep going, but without forcing a “fast” pace for the whole distance.
We have chosen our main checkpoints and drop bag points that have toilet facilities, these facilities will have complimentary sanitary products on offer to runners. These are at the start of the 100 miles, at the start of the 50-mile event, at the start of the 50km and at the finish line. For the 100-mile event that is 4 checkpoints, for the 50 mile, 3 checkpoints and for the 50 km 2 checkpoints.
If you become pregnant after signing up and before the event, you have the option for a full refund or deferral for the following year.
If you need to breastfeed while taking part in the event, email me and we will make sure you have a private area to do so.
The finish awards for the top 3 men, are the same awards for the top 3 females.
I would be grateful for any feedback from females after taking part in this event with any comments to help us continue to support building the confidence in women to know that they absolutely can take part in the ultra-world and they can have the best time knowing the logistics and support around them is all taken care of.
My running ladies who agreed to reccy the route with me!
